To my utter surprise, 2019 was a very good year for me, writing-wise. I headed into it without any real plans or goals, but a series of projects kept me busy, and kept the words flowing. And my year-end total is a number I never thought I'd see.

233,831.

233,831 words. From my flighty little brain. I still find it very hard to believe, considering where I was just a few years ago.

Two years ago, I wrote nothing, and that had been the case for many years before that. Sure, I had ideas and notes, but I never summoned the courage to string them together into a coherent story. Then, at the beginning of 2018, I began writing fanfic, and that rekindled my love for writing and my confidence in my skill. While I wrote a few original pieces for Fictober 2018, it wasn't until this summer that I decided to truly branch back out into original fiction and poetry, and it has been so much fun to reacquaint myself with that side of my creativity.

All this reacquaintance has been good for other aspects of my life, as well. It's provided me a creative outlet, and that has brought a sense of balance back into my life. 2019 was the most mentally healthy year for me in recent memory, and I attribute that in large part to recapturing the joy of creating, and the sense of purpose that came with it.

And a big part of that joy comes from sharing my work with others, and enjoying what they choose to share, as well. So, a big "thank you" to everyone who contributes to this lovely sense of community – in fandom, in creativity, and in positivity! :)

Here's looking forward to 2020! 🎉
