Dear Yuletide Creator!
Oct. 22nd, 2021 02:56 pmDear Yuletide Creator,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to write something for me! I'm very excited to be participating in Yuletide again, and I'm looking forward to what you come up with. :) Below, you will find a rundown of my general likes and DNWs, as well as fandom-specific prompts and suggestions to give you a general idea of the kinds of stories I like. (Please don't feel that you need to address any of the prompts directly; rather, think of them as guidelines and jumping-off points.) Whatever you choose to write, I'm sure I'll love it! Most of all, I hope you have fun! :)

We get such a small snapshot of the world and characters of Transistor, that there are so many stories left to tell! I'm a total sucker for character backstories, and I love getting glimpses into what their personal lives must have been like. I'm also very interested in Cloudbank society: how it worked, where it faltered, who it privileged and who it disenfranchised. Boxer's existence alone hints at socioeconomic disparity in this supposed utopia, and I'm curious to see how the characters occupied their respective places in this society, and how it influenced their opportunities, choices, and personal outlooks.

Fandom DNW: Romantic relationships between any of these characters.
Such a beautiful and emotional series, set in such a mysterious world. The story's focus on the characters leaves many worldbuilding details to be explored, and its focus on Rakka, in particular, leaves plenty of the other Haibanes' lives up for interpretation. I really loved the relationships between Rakka and Reki, and Reki and Kuramori, as well as each individual's story and reactions to what happens throughout their lives. I'm especially interested in worldbuilding in this fandom, whether sprinkled into a character-driven story or the focus of an entire piece. There's plenty of mystery and emotion to work with here, so dive in and have fun!

I only recently played this game, but I was struck by its atmosphere and its mysteries. Desperation and resilience are two sides of the same coin in this environment, though not every character is lucky enough to find the latter. We are given such a brief look at these characters, and can only see certain aspects of them on one playthrough, that I'd really love to see a comprehensive look into who they are -- their pasts, their lives just before their paths crossed, and whatever hopes they might cling to for the future.

Feel free to write any or all of the requested characters.
My favorite Ghibli movie, and one of my favorite movies, period! Shizuku is just so relatable as a young writer, and I love how her relationship with Seiji slowly develops throughout the film. Sweet and fluffy is the name of the game for this fandom! Show me these two being creative and supportive of one another, please. :)

My favorite Zelda game (of the few that I've played); I love the sense of adventure, the contrast between the Light World and Dark World, and all of the lore (stated and implied) surrounding the Triforce, the maidens, and the Golden Land/Dark World. I'm equally happy with that lore being explored in greater detail, and mundane explorations of the day-to-day lives of the inhabitants of either (or both!) worlds.

Transistor
Characters Requested: Red, Subject|The Boxer, Amelia Garbur, Sybil Reisz
Feel free to write any or all of the requested characters.
Fandom DNW: Recursion

Boxer's existence alone hints at socioeconomic disparity in this supposed utopia, and I'm curious to see how the characters occupied their respective places in this society, and how it influenced their opportunities, choices, and personal outlooks.
Prompts/Suggestions:
Red:
- How/why she chose her particular vocation
- Her days at Traverson Hall, helping to develop their arts program
- The incident that led her to temporarily recede from the spotlight
- Pre-relationship interactions with Boxer
- Mid-canon reflections on her situation, limitations, fears and frustrations
- Respite in the Sandbox
- The bridge to Fairview. Did she consciously construct it that way, or did the Transistor impose her thoughts on its design? How did she feel walking toward Fairview, as the statues grew farther apart? Conversely, did their growing proximity on the return trip give her a moment of hope, futile as it ultimately was?
Subject | The Boxer
- His backstory -- who is he? Where did he come from? How did he end up working for Red?
- Pre-relationship interactions with Red
- Reflections from inside the Transistor -- how does he feel? What can he see/hear?
- Any insight into who this character might be; I find him both incredibly endearing and frustratingly enigmatic, and I would love to see your take on him!
Red/Subject | The Boxer
- My OTP across all my fandoms. I enjoy their dynamic as it's implied in the game, and would especially enjoy a story set before the events of the game, looking back on the good times they shared. I'm also up for stories set during and post-canon as well, as long as they aren't excessively dark.
- How they met
- The development of their relationship
- Red running her material by Boxer, whether in private or during rehearsals
- Quiet moments together
- Silly, fun moments together
- Just enjoying each other's company, not necessarily overtly romantic
- Mid-canon moments where they still manage to communicate despite their current limitations
- In the same vein as above, moments of rest in the Sandbox
- Reunion in the Country
Amelia Garbur
- What drove her to become a reporter?
- What was her rank within the OVC? Her relationship with the organization?
- Did she know any of the other characters we learn about in the game? If so, what was her relationship to them?
- Her reactions to and reflections on the events of the game. When did she realize the severity of the situation? Did she ever come to terms with the end of Cloudbank personally? Or did she simply try to remain professional to the very end?
- Scenes from her personal life – family, friends, schooling, coming home after a day of work.
Sybil Reisz
- Her role as an event planner in Cloudbank. How did she get started, how did she gain and work with her clients, behind-the-scenes of a typical event.
- How she became a part of the Camerata. Did the others choose her for her social connections, or did she find out about them somehow and talk (or pester) her way in?
- How did her obsession with Red begin? Was she possessive and delusional from the start, or did it progress in degrees? Did Red at any point reciprocate her feelings, or was she simply a friend on whose affection Sybil misread?
- What was it like for Sybil to remain at the scene of the crime? What did it feel like to be Processed?
- What was the nature of the Sandbox? Of Luna? Did she create that space on her own, or with help from the others? Was it really just a place to test out her capabilities, or was she planning to escape there herself, possibly with Red?
- A previous Fashion Week event. I'd love to see her schmoozing with the rest of Cloudbank society, either innocently or manipulating them to her advantage.

Haibane Renmei
Characters requested: Rakka, Reki, Kuramori, Worldbuilding
Feel free to write any or all of the requested characters.
Prompts/Suggestions:
Rakka:
- I'd love to see more about her first days as a Haibane, adjusting to life in Old Home, and interacting with the other Haibane there.
- What is the past that she can't remember? Exactly who does the crow represent, and why was it important for the crow to find her in Glie?
- What is the nature of the wall? What does Rakka see and hear down there, besides Kuu's voice? Does she find her job tedious or peaceful?
- After the end of the series, does she take on some of Reki's former responsibilities? I'd love to see her welcoming the New Feathers and teaching them the ropes of Haibane life.
- When her Day of Flight comes, is she at peace with her impending departure? Does she meet Reki and Kuu once she flies beyond the walls? And what legacy does she leave behind in Old Home?
Reki:
- I love the gentleness and patience Reki shows the other Haibane, despite claiming that's not her nature. I'd be happy to see some everyday scenes from Old Home, showing Reki doing what she does best, guiding and caring for others, dealing with some of the more boisterous Haibane, and being the voice of reason in the core group.
- After a day of work, how does she unwind? Presumably, by painting; from the paintings we see at the end, she seems to draw her inspiration from her surroundings. Does she keep a sketchbook with her for drawing quick thumbnails, or does she let her memory guide her?
- What about her diary? Contrary to the cool and detached demeanor she wants to present, her diary entries are emotional and enthusiastic. I wouldn't mind getting a glimpse into these entries, epistolary-style.
- If you want to explore something darker, what about the room she's painted from her only memory before arriving in Old Home? She doesn't even realize what it is until the final moments of the show, yet she keeps painting it? What must it feel like to be driven to paint that last memory over and over, trying to figure it out? When does she work on it, and in what frame of mind? And how does leaving that room make her feel--is she relieved to be out of there, or does the light and relative happiness of the other Haibane feel dissonant to her?
- Her very first days at Old Home, from being alone and bleeding to being cleaned up and taken in by Kuramori, to bonding with Nemu. Old Home was even emptier back then, so how did her relationships shape her development as a Haibane?
Kuramori:
- Such a gentle, motherly figure. She also seemed significantly older than any other Haibane we see. How did she arrive in Glie? Who was her guide into the Haibane lifestyle?
- How did she end up at Old Home, presumably alone? Did she seek out the solitude? Why?
- Did Nemu go to Old Home with her, or did Kuramori find her there?
- Her first days with Reki, nursing her back to health and welcoming her as a Haibane.
- Being a mother figure to Nemu and Reki. A typical day in Old Home.
- Her quest to find the materials to treat Reki's feathers. How perilous was it? Had she always had delicate health?
- Her Day of Flight. Was she reluctant to leave Reki and Nemu behind, or did she trust that they could take care of themselves?
Rakka & Reki:
- Reki's motherly concern for Rakka starts as selfish grasp for salvation, but slowly becomes genuine love. Is there any specific point where the change begins, or is it imperceptibly gradual? Does Reki realize what's happening, and, if so, how does she justify it to herself?
- Slice-of-life moments in Old Home, or taking care of the youngfeathers.
- The days leading up to the New Year's festival, as Reki becomes more withdrawn
- Rakka finding Reki's paintings and notes after Reki's Day of Flight.
- Rakka sensing Reki's presence inside the wall.
Reki & Kuramori:
- An expansion on any of the scenes we're shown of Kuramori
- Quiet moments on the Hill of Winds, or having tea in Old Home
- Reki's preoccupation with her sinbound status and dark wings, and Kuramori reassuring her that she's loved nonetheless
- Kuramori teaching Reki how to make the medicine for her wings
- Kuramori posing for her portrait
- Kuramori encouraging Reki's artistic pursuits, perhaps surprising her with new paints or brushes
Worldbuilding:
- Who are the Haibane, and how do they end up in Glie? What exists beyond the walls, and why are they forbidden to go beyond them?
- When did the first Haibane appear in Glie, and how were they received?
- How did the Haibane hierarchy come into being? Who invested the Communicator with his responsibilities and authority?
- Who are the Toga, and why are they forbidden to speak within the town walls? Where do they come from, and did they choose this job, or is it some kind of inheritance or punishment?
- What about the townspeople? How did they end up living in a town they cannot leave? Are any of them resentful of that fact?
- Some interpretations suggest that Glie is a sort of afterlife/purgatory for the Haibane, but Sumika's pregnancy suggests that it operates similar to the real world for humans. Has the town grown much since its founding? How do they not become overcrowded. Perhaps pregnancies are relatively rare; in that case, was Sumika's celebrated?
- Who occupied Old Home before the Haibane made their home there? Likewise, who built the factory and the ruined chapel where they hold Kuu's memorial? Why did these places fall out of use?
- The aforementioned ruins suggest that at one point, Glie was larger, demographically and geographically. What happened to reduce the town to its current size? Was there an illness, a famine, a mass exodus, and did this coincide with the town being cut off from the rest of the world, or has it always been isolated?

Kentucky Route Zero
Characters requested: Ezra, Junebug, Shannon Márquez, Conway
Feel free to write any or all of the requested characters.

Prompts/Suggestions:
Ezra
- What happened to his family? Did they willingly abandon him, or were they taken away (debt, violence, accident, etc.)?
- Who is Julian, and how did Ezra meet him? Did he bond with Julian when Julian was an eaglet, or did Julian take him under his wing -- figuratively and literally -- once Ezra's family lost their home? Is he a coping mechanism for Ezra? Why does Ezra refer to him as his "brother?"
- Ezra's thoughts on his traveling companions. He's an imaginative boy; what stories does he dream up for them?
- His time in the Museum of Dwellings. How did he come to live there, and how did he and Julian move the houses at night? Was it a literal move, or something more figurative?
Junebug
- How did she gain consciousness and decide to live her own life, rather than continue to do the work she was built for?
- Life on the road as a musician, with Johnny.
- Her inner conflict over her identity. As many alterations and upgrades she has given herself, she will never be completely human; how does she feel in the company of humans?
- Her initial reaction to hearing "Too Late to Love You." What about that song moved her to perform her own version of it?
Shannon Márquez
- Her past with Weaver. Was there ever any tension between them over their parents' jobs (and the disparity between perceived skill/knowledge/socioeconomic status of said jobs).
- Who is she really talking to when we meet her in the mine? What impending eviction is she referring to?
- Thoughts on returning to the site of her parents' deaths.
- Thoughts about Conway having signed on with Hard Times.
- What did she make of Weaver's mysterious broadcast?
- Starting a new life in the town at the end of the game.
Conway
- His past with Lysette and Ira.
- How did he come to own the hound?
- How has he handled the guilt over Charlie's death?
- When did he last stop drinking before the events of the game?
- The drink that sealed the deal with Hard Times.
- His downward spiral in Act IV, culminating with his departure with the Hard Times "boys".

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Characters requested: Worldbuilding
My favorite Zelda game (of the few that I've played); I love the sense of adventure, the contrast between the Light World and Dark World, and all of the lore (stated and implied) surrounding the Triforce, the maidens, and the Golden Land/Dark World. I'm equally happy with that lore being explored in greater detail, and mundane explorations of the day-to-day lives of the inhabitants of either (or both!) worlds.
Prompts/Suggestions:
- Was the Golden Land simply the location of the Triforce, or were there people/animals/creatures living there? If the latter, how did they react when Ganon seized the Triforce and changed their home so dramatically?
- On that note, how does it feel to live in a place subject to such a dramatic change so suddenly?
- Who are the maidens? Are all of them nobility, or are some commoners who happen to carry a particular bloodline and/or powers?
- That said, what are the maidens' powers, beside breaking the seal to Ganon's tower? Or were their powers dormant until needed?
- The palaces you explore, as well as the scattered writings you need to decipher, suggest a rich culture that existed in Hyrule before the events of the game. Who were these people, and what were there traditions and beliefs?
- How did Link, who was supposedly the last of the bloodline of the knights, end up living in such relatively humble conditions? Who were his parents, and what happened to them? Did some ancestor bring dishonor to the family? Or was Link's family simply forgotten when the power of the knights was no longer needed?
- Who was Ganon before he seized the Triforce? How did a regular thief find his way into the Golden Land?
- The Triforce states that once Link makes his wish, the Dark World will cease to exist. Are the regular (non-enemy) inhabitants of the Dark World given a chance to leave, or do they vanish with it, casualties of other people's whims?
