Challenge #12 - In your own space, resurrect an old meme.

I've struggled a bit with keeping up with the Snowflake prompts, but this one is too fun to resist! In a bit of overkill, I snagged a handful of memes from the main post, and now I shall foist my answers upon innocent readers who asked for none of this.

♦ I Write Like...

I plugged in a few hundred words of my current WIP, and the site came back with: Anne Rice? Seriously?!

Forgive me, fellow fanfic authors, for I have uttered the Most Unholy of names. 🙇‍♀️

Joking aside, I've never read any of Rice's work, so I can't speak for the accuracy of the comparison.

♦ Music Shuffle - go to your favorite source of music that can be shuffled. Your main Spotify playlist, iTunes, your YouTube music playlist. Hit shuffle. Write down the first line of the first twenty songs that come up. When people visit your journal, they have to guess what the songs are. Strike through the ones that have been guessed with the guesser's name at the end of the line.

Okay, so I hit shuffle on my trusty old iPod, and discovered that my current music library is all over the place! And that some of these opening lines are really, really vague. Happy guessing!

June - My Animal Crossing island finally hit three stars!

July - Swiped from runicmagitek because it seems like fun!

August - Another Wednesday with no writing to report. :(

September - Press Start assignment is DONE! 🎉

October - "Where I Belong" (currently 9,562 words)

November - I tried NaNo twice, several years ago.

December - "The Good Bed" (2,719 words)

♦ Kleenex Moment - Pick the top five movies that make you cry, and tell us what the Kleenex Moment is.

I'm going to go for a mix of movies, series, and video games, because the emotional impact of a moment doesn't depend on the medium in which it's delivered.

1. The last ten minutes of Coco

2. Ma Otter singing "When the River Meets the Sea" in Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas

3. The ending of Transistor

4. Rakka crying out to Reki as the train approaches in Haibane Renmei ("Say that you need me!")

5. Rinoa floating through space in Final Fantasy VIII, realizing that, without a plot-convenient miracle, she's going to die.

Thank you so much for putting up with all of that! I shall try to exercise a bit more self-restraint in the future (but I can make no promises). ;)

Oh yes, you've done this challenge very well! ♥ First of all, what a cute wallpaper! And I, too, got Anne Rice (among several other authors), and I've never read her. I even got her for the first half of my latest fic, while I got Leo Tolstoy for the second half. :)

I really wonder what the criteria is for that "I Write Like..." meme. Is it word choice? Sentence length? Punctuation? Because you definitely got some interesting results! :)

See, my recollection with Anne Rice is that Interview with the Vampire was actually a really good book, and then she just, sort of... forgot to stop writing and carried on about that world for a LOT longer than she should have. Her obnoxious attitudes aside, I wouldn't mind being compared to her as an author, at least for some of her work!

You're right with the song guesses, though I had no idea that Plain White T's had done a cover of "Breakfast at Tiffany's"; I'm stuck in the 90's with Deep Blue Something's version. :)

And I like your take on memes; they're a weakness of mine, so it's good to hear it's not possible to overdo it.

SASSY FRAN!!!!! 😍 oh wow, I miss playing Neko Atsume. What a delightful game! I do have a plushie of my fave, Xerxes, on my desk, looking over the room in all his regal glory.

... I may need to reinstall that game now 😁

Neko Atsume is the reason I hold onto my current phone, even as it's not-so-slowly becoming obsolete. I've collected all the kitties and their mementos and I'm reluctant to start over. XD

And I love Xerxes' haughty expression; I imagine he makes an adorable plushie! 👑

For the music shuffle, correct and correct! Also, a rare sighting of another Killers fan in the wild! Yay! :D

As for my Kleenex moments, I just watched Emmet Otter over this past Christmas for the first time in years, and that song completely blindsided me. I forgot just how beautiful and emotional it was. It is now on my iPod, should I ever need to cry on cue. :)
