I kind of fell off the Snowflake wagon for a bit, but I'm getting back on!
Challenge #4: In your own space, create some goals.
Let's see...
- I'd really like to read more this year. In the past year and a half or so, I've found it increasingly difficult to just sit down and immerse myself in a story. I'd like to try to do that, and do it with regularity, over the course of 2021.
- I'd also like to get into some more shows/movies/games. Last year was pretty good for me in terms of playing new games, and almost every one I played, I ended up loving. I think it's time for me to do so again, and maybe expand my "adventurousness" to other media.
- Writing-wise, I'd like to get back into writing original fiction. I was producing it fairly regularly during the second half of 2019, and then I just lost all motivation for it throughout 2020. I have some ideas kicking around my brain, and I hope to find the confidence to get back into it.
- In terms of fanfic, I'd love to complete Where I Belong and move onto the next installment in the Esthar Chronicles series. It's not that I don't know what I'm doing with that fic--it's outlined and plotted, already--it's just a matter of motivation. I like the characters, and I'm pretty happy with the plot, but writing for FF8 at the moment feels a whole lot less rewarding than it did just a few years ago. :/
- I'd also like to finish Walk in Shadow. It's coming up on a year since I last updated, though, like "Where I Belong," it's outlined and plotted as well. What the Water Gave Us is in the same boat, at the moment, too.
- Geez, I'd just like to clear out my fanfic WIPs!
- I'd also like to get around to fleshing out and editing some drafts of ideas I fell in love with last year. At the top of my list are stories featuring Edea from FF8 and Farrah from Transistor.
- Last year, I began dabbling in fanart, and I want to continue doing so. I've got a long-term project in the works, and I'd like to crank out a few more doodles in between, as well. While I'm not aiming to become a great artist, it feels good to express my creativity in a different way than usual.
- Overarching goals for this year and any others: keep surviving, and keep creating! :)

Date: 2021-01-11 11:19 pm (UTC)Yeah, fics that become a slog can be difficult to finish, even when you like the story as a whole. If only there was some way to magically transmit an idea instead of wrangling with words to describe it!
And best wishes in continuing your fanart dabbling! :) For me, it's a good way to stay active in fandom when the words aren't working, and, often, it helps to reset and refresh my writing motivation. But above all, it's just plain fun! I'm glad to hear you enjoy it, too! :)
