Dear Chocolatier,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to write something for me! I'm very excited to be participating in the Chocolate Box exchange, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. :) Below, you will find a quick rundown of my general likes and DNWs, as well as fandom-specific prompts and suggestions to give you a general idea of the kinds of stories I like. Fandom DNW: Recursion

We get such a small snapshot of the world and characters of Transistor, that there are so many stories left to tell! I'm a total sucker for character backstories, and I love getting glimpses into what their personal lives must have been like. I'm also very interested in Cloudbank society: how it worked, where it faltered, who it privileged and who it disenfranchised. Boxer's existence alone hints at socioeconomic disparity in this supposed utopia, and I'm curious to see how the characters occupied their respective places in this society, and how it influenced their opportunities, choices, and personal outlooks.


Red/Subject | The Boxer

• My OTP across all my fandoms! I enjoy their dynamic as it's implied in the game, and would especially enjoy a story set before the events of the game, looking back on the good times they shared.

• What was their relationship like? Chilly professionalism? Supportive friendship? Leaning toward something more, on one or both sides? (I like pining! I really like pining!)
  
• Did Lillian ever discuss Max's disappearance with Amelia? If so, did Amelia offer to help with the search? If not, did Amelia notice the toll it was taking on Lillian?
  
• The two of them unwinding after work at a restaurant or a bar.
  
• Sharing observations of Cloudbank, its structure, and its people.
  
• A standard day at the OVC

Royce Bracket & Sybil Reisz

• These two are so different, and that lends itself to a variety of options, dramatic and comedic. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during their conversations!
  
• What led Royce to give Luna to Sybil? And how did Sybil react?
  
• Ditto for the Sandbox. Did Royce give that space to Sybil (perhaps as a means of training?), or did she appropriate it for herself?
  
• Sybil trying to get Royce to relax, or dragging him to a social function.
  
• Quiet, serious moments between the two, perhaps talking about Cloudbank and what it means to them, or their personal reasons for wanting to effect change.

Parasite Eve

Requested Pairing: Aya Brea & Daniel Dollis

I love the atmosphere and tension in this game, and that Aya is a heroine of circumstance, rather than choice, but nonetheless rises to the challenge for the sake of the world. And even though she must head into danger alone, she is never without support, if only of the emotional/spiritual variety.

• I love the mutual respect and affection between Aya and Daniel, not only as coworkers, but also as family. I'd like to see that explored, whether in a professional context or a familial one (e.g., emotional support after a hard case, spending a birthday or holiday together, etc.)
  
• A day in the life: an average day for Aya and Daniel. What cases do they deal with, what do they talk about during downtime?
  
• The early days of their partnership: their impressions of one another, the moment when it just clicked, and they knew they'd work well together.
  
• Post-regular ending, immediately following the destruction of the ship, between that point and going to the opera, or any point after that.
  
• Post-Chrysler Building ending. How does Aya explain what happened? How does she convince Daniel, much less the rest of the world, that the threat is gone?
  
• Aya's last days with the NYPD, Daniel seeing her off to LA.
  
• Continued correspondence between them after Aya arrives in LA.

Haibane Renmei

Requested Pairings: Rakka & Reki, Kuu & Rakka, Hyoko & Midori & Reki, Kuramori & Reki

I love this gentle anime that pulls you in with cute slice-of-life episodes, before hitting you with a truckload of emotions. Whether you want to continue the slice-of-life angle or explore some of the strong emotions and themes of the show, I'd just be happy to see these characters again.


Rakka & Reki

• Reki's motherly concern for Rakka starts as selfish grasp for salvation, but slowly becomes genuine love. Is there any specific point where the change begins, or is it imperceptibly gradual? Does Reki realize what's happening, and, if so, how does she justify it to herself?
  
• Slice-of-life moments in Old Home, or taking care of the youngfeathers.
  
• The days leading up to the New Year's festival, as Reki becomes more withdrawn
  
• Rakka finding Reki's paintings and notes after Reki's Day of Flight.
  
• Rakka sensing Reki's presence inside the wall.

Kuu & Rakka

• Kuu helping Rakka adjust to life as a haibane.
  
• Adventures in town, or in the unexplored parts of Old Home.
  
• Lighthearted moments together (e.g., watching the clouds on the Hill of Winds, helping with chores or meals, just talking about whatever comes to mind)

Witch Hunter Robin

Requested Pairings: Amon & Robin Sena, Amon & Shunji Nagira, Amon & Yurika Dojima, Robin Sena & Yurika Dojima

Fandom DNW: Any hint of romantic or sexual attraction between the characters. As much as I like pining, I'd rather not see it among these pairs, thanks.

This was the first anime I seriously followed, and I love the atmosphere and mystery of it, especially the constant guessing at who was actually on Robin's side. I equally enjoy the case-by-case nature of the first half of the show and the more continuous narrative of the second half, so feel free to set your fic anywhere in this timeline, or even post-canon, to find out where these characters ended up.


Amon & Robin Sena

• I love the dynamic between these two, from Amon's initial disgust at being partnered with Robin, through his grudging respect and eventual concern for her, to their tense reunion. I would love to see how he goes from being dismissive to being her "watchdog", and what exactly about Robin spurs these changes.
  
• Working a case together, especially after Amon has accepted Robin as part of the team.
  
• Any moment from the time Robin meets with Methuselah to the attack on the STN-J
  
• Post-canon. How do they escape the Factory, and where do they go from there? Do they continue to hunt independently of the STN, or are they the hunted, now?

Amon & Shunji Nagira

• Their past together, especially when Amon realizes that his and Nagira's father carried the witch gene, making Amon a seed, and more susceptible to awakening as a witch.
  
• Despite their fraught relationship, did they stay in contact as adults? Did Amon mention anything about Robin to Nagira before her sent her to him?
  
• A conversation between them before heading into the Factory, knowing one or both of them might not survive.

Amon & Yurika Dojima

• Contact between them as STN sends elite hunters after Robin
  
• Sharing what they know about the STN-J and Zaizen's true intentions

Robin Sena & Yurika Dojima

• Early days at the STN-J. There's not exactly animosity between Robin and Dojima, but Dojima seems pretty dismissive of Robin.
  
• Undercover at Harry's. I'm sure these two must have had some interesting conversations during the slow hours.
  
• Reunion at Harry's, after the team has decided to go after Zaizen and both Robin and Dojima reveal that they were working as spies for the STN. Do they have any more to say to each other after that?

Final Fantasy VI

Requested Pairings: Celes Chere & Cid Del Norte Marquez, Celes Chere & Relm Arrowny & Terra Branford, Interceptor & Relm Arrowny, Relm Arrowny & Shadow

One of my favorite Final Fantasies. As much as I love the story, it leaves plenty of room for imagining character interactions at various points in the plot, but that's what makes it such prime material for fanfic!


Celes Chere & Cid Del Norte Marquez

• Pre-canon moments between these two, Cid acting as a sort of father figure to Celes, at least to the best of his ability. It can't be easy approaching a magic-infused child soldier in a similar way to a normal little girl. What do their interactions look like? Does he tell her stories, or help her with lessons? Teach her about the world around her, or just lend an ear when she needs to vent?
  
• Does Cid ever express his regret at letting the Empire infuse Celes directly to her? If so, how would she react? In some versions of the game, she speaks of magic like a gift. Would she resent him or thank him for the infusions?
  
• Cid caring for Celes on Solitary Island, and explaining the situation when she wakes from her coma.
  
• What is going through Cid's mind as he is building the raft on the Solitary Island? Did he plan to escape with Celes, or was it always meant to be a parting gift to her?

Celes Chere & Relm Arrowny & Terra Branford

• Three very distinct personalities here! I'd love to see their individual takes on canon events, and how they react to the differences in those takes.
  
• For all her toughness and smart-talk, Relm is quite young. Does she look up to the other women in the group? Does she ask them questions? What can she learn from them, and what does she want to learn from them?
  
• Terra's typical musings on love, but now with both Celes' and Relm's input!
  
• Post-canon. Where do they end up, and do they keep in touch? Perhaps Relm can paint their portraits, as heroines who helped save (what's left of) the world.

Interceptor & Relm Arrowny

• Interceptor seems to recognize Relm straight away. Does Relm bond with him as easily?
  
• Relm playing with Interceptor, finally acting like the child she is.
  
• Quiet moments, perhaps snuggled together, or Relm confessing her dreams and fears to Interceptor

Relm Arrowny & Shadow

• Does Shadow recognize Relm right away? Does she awaken feelings of regret in him?
  
• Relm being her usual sassy self, not intimidated in the least by Shadow
  
• Relm tagging along with Shadow, drawn to him without understanding why
  
• Shadow being protective of Relm

Final Fantasy VIII

Requested Pairings: Edea Kramer & Rinoa Heartilly, Edea Kramer & Ellone, Ellone & Raine Loire, Rinoa Heartilly/Squall Leonhart

My favorite Final Fantasy! I love its characters and its world, and particularly the concepts of sorceresses and succession, and the relationships that develop around that.


Edea Kramer & Rinoa Heartilly

• Edea and Rinoa's first in-depth conversation after the events of the game.
  
• Edea acting as mentor to Rinoa, teaching her how to use and control her magic, and how to blend into society as much as possible.
  
• Along the same lines, Rinoa heading to Edea's house for an extended period, to train and learn who she is as a sorceress.

Edea Kramer & Ellone

• Early years at the orphanage. Since Ellone was a few years older than the other children, did she help Edea with caring for them?
  
• What was their relationship like, at the orphanage? Was it familial, or more of a mentor-and-student dynamic? When did Edea discover Ellone's power? Did she help her learn how to control it, or was it something even Edea couldn't understand?
  
• The decision to place Ellone on the White SeeD ship. Where did the ship come from? Who were the first White SeeDs? Did Edea stay there with Ellone for a while?
  
• Does Ellone resent Edea for her decision to place her on the ship, or does she understand why Edea did so from the beginning?
  
• Reunion after the events of the game. What do they talk about? How has their relationship changed?

Ellone & Raine Loire

• How old was Ellone when Raine took her in? Was she already showing some of her powers?
  
• How did Raine learn about Ellone's powers? Did knowing about them make her hesitant to take Ellone in?
  
• Slice-of-life story about their lives in Winhill, before Laguna's arrival.
  
• Ellone's last days/weeks with Raine. Was she able to comfort Raine in Laguna's absence? Did Ellone know what was happening? How did she cope with losing Raine?

Rinoa Heartilly/Squall Leonhart

• My very first OTP! I'm happy to read almost anything about them, so long as it ends on a positive/hopeful note and they stay together.
  
• That said, I especially love fics that detail how they came to care about each other. Those little moments that push the relationship beyond business and flirtation into real affection.
  
• And I also love fics that detail how their relationship changes after Rinoa becomes a sorceress. How does Squall live up to his promise to be her knight? How does Rinoa conduct herself to minimize his worry? What happens when Rinoa's powers go awry, even in a small, silly way?
  
• Just the two of them being a not-so-average young couple. A day off spent at the beach, quiet moments together (reading, snuggling, etc.), balancing work and life, etc.

Final Fantasy X

I love the lore in this game, and how it imbues the daily life of all Spirans, and drives Summoners to make the ultimate sacrifice on the people's behalf. Growing up in such a world definitely shapes the characters' views and motivations, and colors their relationships with both melancholy and hope.


Auron/Lulu

• I believe these grumpy, no-nonsense guardians would get along quite well, perhaps venting to one another about the events of the game, or seeking to dull the pain of old wounds and past failures.
  
• Mid-pilgrimage, discovering just how alike they are, and developing a relationship from that similarity.
  
• Missing-scene fics showing more interaction between the two, especially if it leads to some sense of intimacy between them (physical and/or emotional).
  
• The final night before entering Zanarkand. What worries or regrets might they have? Would they share those with each other, or seek to bury the worries beneath a moment of closeness?
  
• AU in which Auron does not disappear from Spira. How would he and Lulu move on from what they've seen and been through? How do they adjust to the new Spira, individually and as a couple?
  
• AU in which Lulu ventures to the Farplane to find Auron, perhaps during its destabilzation in FFX-2.

Lulu & Yuna

• I'd love to see their sisterly bond explored. What were their first impressions of each other? What drove Lulu to take Yuna under her wing, so to speak?
  
• Lulu's reaction when Yuna announces her intent to train as a summoner.
  
• Lulu helping Yuna learn to use and control her magic.
  
• Tender, quiet moments between them, comfortable in each other's presence.
  
• After Yuna's speech at the end of FFX. What do she and Lulu talk about on the way back to Besaid? What are their hopes and fears for Spira's future?
