Back on OrangeLeaf ...

It's been a while since I've given an update on my Animal Crossing island. I'm still enjoying it, and slowly making it better and better.
Lots of pictures, under lots of cuts.

I'm still not entirely sure how I did this, but I think the prizes from the fishing tourney helped out a ton, since most of them were fairly subtle decorations I actually wanted to use.

Zucker admiring Fauna's garden.

Norma enjoying an ice cream by the river.

Audie is so deep in thought, even a sunfish doesn't faze her.

Chilling with Buck.

Olaf imagining the possibilities. (I love his expression here; he's so excited! POP-UP CLUB!!!)
Taking in the hydrangeas before they go out of season.

Barbecue/picnic area

Wishing well.

Clifftop cafe.

It's not nearly finished, but I like what I've got so far.

The living room could use one or two more pieces; I'm still trying to decide what.

Den/reading room. I'm waiting for a brown den chair and the DIY bookcase recipe.

It's a little bit sparse, but I love the space! I also love my little writing desk in the corner!
And, to finish digesting the words of my earlier posts, I decided to get a tenth villager. I also decided I wanted to choose who that would be, so I bought Merry's Amiibo card. I still have to win her over with DIYs, but I'm ready to welcome her to OrangeLeaf!

Date: 2020-07-15 12:39 pm (UTC)Man, I really want in on these delicious ice creams everyone is eating now D: also why can't I sit by my villagers?????
I laughed so much at that picture with Audie and the sunfish. OMG I screamed when I caught mine the first time - IT'S HUGE!!!
I love the hydrangeas around your res services! Also shrubs >>>>> fences :D
Your lil' decorations throughout the island are so cute!!! Loving the vibe you've got going on. AND AHHHH YOUR BLUE DRESS IS ALSO CUTE :D :D :D
Your house is looking AWESOME!! Really love the kitchen. Reminds me of the kitchen my grandparents used to have :D oh-so homey! Hope you have a blast decorating it.
Ahhhhh Merry is adorable! I've considering getting amiibo cards to finally get a normal-type villager, but I'm also liking the randomness from the campsite and kind of want to see which one shows up. Hope you enjoy Merry! 💕

Date: 2020-07-16 02:06 am (UTC)Yes, those ice creams look so delicious and refreshing! Why won't Nintendo let us in on them? (Incidentally, I came across a recipe on Tumblr last month for making something similar. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't comment on its flavor, but the ingredients suggest it would be fairly creamy.) Seriously, though, between Animal Crossing, Kingdom Hearts, and random animes, what is up with Japanese media and blue ice cream? Other than the obvious fact that it looks doubly appealing, that is. ;)
I'm happy to hear you like the island decorations! I'm naturally fairly low-key about decorating, so I'm glad to have found items that make it easier for me to venture a little bit beyond what I'm used to, while still remaining within my comfort zone and aesthetic. As for the dress -- that style has quickly become one of my favorites! I got a green one early on from another villager, and when the other colors came into the shop I snapped them up!
Thanks for your compliments on the house! Homey is exactly what I was going for with the kitchen -- in fact, I think it, and the bedroom, are the only spaces I haven't redecorated multiple times. They just worked well from the beginning. :)
I finally got Merry to agree to move in today! I also like seeing which characters show up at the campsite, but the game seemed to be pushing a snooty type on me recently (two in quick succession), and I'm not sure they're the best fit for my relatively rustic island. Normal villagers, though, are absolute dears! I have four of them, and I could listen to them talk about books all day. Best of luck finding one for your island! :D
