All the stories and ideas I have floating around. In short, too many!
Though the Hours Take No Notice of What Fate Might Have in Store - An AU beginning in Albrook, where Terra has the nighttime conversation with Celes instead of Locke. Celes gives Terra the ribbon she wore at the opera, saying it suits her better. Later, after Celes' failed suicide attempt, she discovers the injured bird bandaged with the ribbon. [Progress: Notes and opening scene]
Crescendo - Daryl and Setzer get frisky in an opera box. [Progress: about halfway through first draft]
You Want the Badge of Honor When You Save My Hide - Celes questions Locke about why he is so eager to protect her and save her when she has the skills to take care of herself. [Progress: Notes]
Celes/Daryl/Setzer fic - A "Daryl Lives" AU. Daryl and Setzer set out to capture Maria from the opera house for a planned tryst, but when they find that they've captured Celes instead, Daryl agrees to help the Returners "for the adventure of it all." In the World of Ruin, Celes finds Daryl in the bar where Setzer’s found in-game. Daryl leads the party to her underground hangar for the Falcon, where they find Setzer mourning her, believing her dead after the Blackjack went down off the Floating Continent. They all rejoin the others to defeat Kefka.
Average, Everyday Supergoddess - Selphie wears herself out planning a surprise birthday party for Nida, on top of all of her other commitments, and finally has to admit that she's only human. [Progress: opening scene written]
Crystal Mind and Magenta Feelings - Quistis goes to Trabia Garden to essentially "detox" from GFs and help with the restoration project there, but while there, she and Selphie get to talking about Selphie's very first GF. In an effort to recover any trace of it, Selphie ends up fracturing those traces, and unless she and Quistis find the GF again, Selphie might never be the same. [Progress: Notes and outline]
Devour - Squall learns about this unique ability, and tries it for himself. [Progress: two versions started]
Where I Belong - While studying the history and manufacture of Estharian aircraft, Selphie comes across her own name in an article about a deadly revolt in a mining town, not long after the overthrow of Adel. Shocked, she travels to the town, hoping to piece together clues about her past, and to dig up just one memory of the people she loved so long ago. [Progress: 2/? chapters]
Fragments of Memories - A series of 12 vignettes detailing Raine's, Laguna's and Ellone's life in Winhill, scrapbook-style. [Progress: "Scrapbook" complete, 1 vignette written]
Gunpowder and Blood - Essentially, traumatized Ellone, who finds her life, and the people she loves, marked by these scents. [Progress: Notes]
Hands - A story with parallel plots following Ellone and Ward in Esthar. While Ward falls for his sign-language teacher, Ellone falls for one of the soldiers assigned to her guard. [Progress: Notes]
The Hidden Princess - A fic about the original Princess Garnet, told from the POV of the palace gardener. [Progress: notes and some scenes]
Fever - AU in which Lulu gets infected with Sin’s toxin during Operation Mi’ihen. While Yuna tends to the wounded inside Djose Temple, Auron stays by Lulu’s side as she recovers in the inn. She runs a fever and in her delirium, she believes Auron is Chappu. Auron plays along. It's not technically a lie, he tells himself, but a cruel deception, nonetheless. A deception he has no choice but to keep up. [Progress: Notes]
Walk in Shadow - Lulu & Ginnem. The story of an ill-fated pilgrimage, through the eyes of the summoner herself, and the young guardian whose life she changed forever. [Progress: 3/8 chapters]
Chase the Lightning from the Sky - Red and Auden building their new life in the Country. While what they went through left scars on both of them, they find that they are strong enough to weather this new storm. [Progress: first scene written]
Royce Wins AU - What it says. Royce wins the final battle inside the Transistor and goes about bringing his projects to life, going so far as to create a populace to his liking and control. However, the voices of those trapped inside the Transistor continue to haunt him, driving him to seclude himself in his Fairview sanctuary in search of relief. [Progress: Outline and first scene written]
Darzi-Platt - Max is healthier than he's ever been since cleaning up his habit, but the public decries his lack of creativity. Lillian tries her best to remind him of what's important as he slides toward relapse. [Progress: Notes]
Something Wild and Unruly - Red tries to grow wildflowers in a plot on the farm in the Country, and makes a discovery about herself. [Progress: Notes and first scene]
In the Center of the City in the Night - ...waiting for you. Sybil waits for Red to arrive at the Empty Set, even as the Process begins to overtake her. [Progress: Notes]
Frame Colors of Passion Against a Fading Sky - The story of Farrah's rise to fame as a sky-painter, and her loss at the hands of the Camerata. [Progress: first draft in progress]
Meant No Harm - Trying to get a pesky reporter to stop bothering Red, Auden accidentally breaks the reporter’s arm. Though OVC terminal video confirms it was an accident, he is haunted by the potential damage he can do. As such, when Red suggests he lay low for a while, he takes this separation to heart. Everything he does seems laden with hidden danger, and he never wants to hurt her. But trying to avoid it only makes his conviction stronger, and he knows he eventually has to face his fear and prove it wrong, or risk losing Red forever. [Progress: Notes and first scene]
Wouldn't Mind - Barney overhears Valancy talking to Olive while he collects gas from Wellington's car. [Progress: First few paragraphs]
Fishing Lesson - Barney teaches Valancy how to fish. [Progress: Notes]
Georgiana and cats - Having cared for Banjo and Good Luck while Barney and Valancy traveled, Georgiana is reluctant to give them up. She accepts Valancy's invitation to dinner at the Blue Castle, where Banjo recognizes her and deigns to be cuddled by her. Seeing this, Valancy and Barney allow Georgiana to keep Banjo for herself. [Progress: Notes and one scene]
Picnic - A rained-out picnic leads to a cozy, intimate afternoon indoors. [Progress: Notes]
Rustle - After two years of traveling, Valancy and Barney spend another full year in the Blue Castle. Winter has passed and color has returned to the world, and with it, comes a sensation Valancy never imagined she would feel. She wanders the island, gathering armfuls of flowers, and introducing someone new -- someone very, very new -- to the place where her dreams took flight. [Progress: Notes]
Journal - During Valancy and Barney's travels, they visit museums, whereupon Valancy is inspired to take up a journal of her own. At first, she jots down impressions, but then she begins to sketch what she sees. Barney buys her a set of paints and an easel, and she takes to painting the landscape around the places they are staying (an old villa in the Italian countryside, for starters). She finds she enjoys the creative expression and continues it, painting scenes around Mistawis, and favorite scenes from books, even providing small, private illustrations to Barney's books, one of which he includes as the frontispiece to his new manuscript, artist listed, at Valancy's request, under a pseudonym (Barney made it a point to learn how to say "moonlight" in the languages of the countries they visited; they choose a name from that). [Progress: Notes and opening paragraph]
What the Water Gave Us - Rejected by her parents as an infant, Thipa is taken in by the blacksmith of Kakariko Village and raised as his own, on the condition that she never drink from the village's well. Though curious about it, Thipa initially obeys this condition; as she grows older, however, and life's challenges begin to mount, Thipa finds herself drawn ever closer to the well, and whatever dwells within it. [Progress: 2/7 chapters]
Sprinkles and Suds - Baker/bar owner cozy romance. [Progress: too many notes]
Sawdust and Milkshakes - Carpenter and soda jerk cozy romance. [Progress: notes]
Mermaid Scribe - As punishment for staging a mutiny against her mother, a sailor is offered as a sacrifice to the merfolk. Given a pearl that allows her breathe underwater, she is collected by a merwizard to act as his scribe. Possible romantic angle; not sure on that, yet. [Progress: notes and some scenes]
