I am unimpressed.
Sep. 16th, 2020 10:22 pmI just saw the trailer for FFXVI, and, sadly, it did very little for me.
Another pretty-boy protagonist. Yawn.
Dark, washed-out environments. Meh.
Character models that somehow look dated already. Odd.
Apparently full-on action combat. Oh joy.
I will say that bit with the kid turning into Ifrit and just unleashing on everyone was exciting. Perhaps the trailer should have led with that.
I'll also give Square-Enix credit for finally picking a side regarding action game vs. RPG. I know this is early footage, and things may improve during development, but this was lackluster and disappointing. And considering that, given S-E's recent FF record, I didn't expect much to begin with, that just makes me sad. I guess I was hoping for something to reignite my passion for the series.
Eight years on, and I'm still intrigued by Agni's Philosophy. Wish we would've seen that here, instead.
(End grumbling. It's been a Week of Small Annoyances, and it just felt good to vent about the least important one. ;) )
