I haven't been particularly active online since early October, owing to things like work and life and a bout of depression. But for the past few days, I haven't been particularly active in anything outside of my Switch because of the Animal Crossing update, especially the Happy Home Paradise DLC.

Oh gosh, this game is fun! Getting pretty much free rein to design villager homes without having to worry about crafting items or hunting down variations, and getting to see and interact with new (to me) villagers without having to say goodbye to my little island population, is perfect! I may be spending more time on the HHP DLC than the main game at the moment, but I'm still tending to my island and making sure none of my resident villagers feel neglected (I've built vacation homes for a few of them already, too!). ;)

Anyway, this update and DLC have been great mood-boosters, and I look forward to sinking quite a few more idle hours into them. :)

And of course I'm going to plaster screenshots on this blog! Was there ever any doubt? ;)

One of the first homes that I did was Bertha's. She's a sweet hippo with the Normal personality, and she wanted baskets. Lots of 'em:

And I loved the plot I picked for her. I could've done more with the yard; I might revisit her now that I can expand the houses, and add to the yard a bit, too.

I love seeing my own villagers get super excited when I take them to the resort island. Just look at Mira playing in the sand! 💕

She wanted some kind of futuristic sci-fi house. I think I delivered. (Gonna have to revisit and expand hers, too!)

She really likes her cold-sleep pod! XD

Olaf sipping "juice" in his swanky pad:

And getting ready to eat the food set out in his yard. I love all the animations the characters have now! This DLC really brought them to life.

Bella's place. I love this little peppy, metal-singing mouse!

And Fauna's. I'm particularly proud of the way both her house and yard came out.

Outside of designing houses, you can also design facilities on the resort island, and I've done the school and cafe so far. It's so cute seeing the villagers working/eating/studying there. And when they're not in the facilities, they're chilling on the beach, like Faith, Mira, and Bertha doing the hula here:

Seriously, this update couldn't have come at a better time for me, emotionally. It's helped keep me busy and not focused on the things I can't accomplish at the moment. Sure, it's a total timesink, but it's a fun, wholesome one that leaves a smile on my face. I mean, come on, how can you frown around characters like these?
