Writing Update?
Oct. 14th, 2021 03:09 pmThe leaves are changing, there was a dusting of snow on the mountains, and I've actually had to get out my thick sweatshirt -- fall has arrived! The temperatures are still going to fluctuate over the next few weeks, but at least summer is finally out of here!
If only my productivity hadn't gone with it. >:/ I've given up on reaching my GYWO goal this year (while it's still technically possible, the schedule at which I'd have to write does not fit well with my other obligations at the moment). I've learned my lesson, though: just go with a word count goal for 2022. I can always dedicate a free weekend to banging out the words.
- I think I'll sit out Yuletide, this year. The tag set wasn't inspiring much enthusiasm in me. There are several games nominated that I'm interested in, but I haven't yet played, and I don't think I can finish them in time to write a story, so it's better to just cheer everyone on from the sidelines this time. Have fun! I'll be waving my pom-poms for you all!!! :D
- I did sign up for Femslash Ex, though, and got an adorable prompt, so I'll have something to start working on shortly. And I'm hoping to get at least a drabble in to the Spook Me Ficathon. One of the categories I chose was "Weird West," which you'd think would just light up my brain with ideas. So far...not much.
My current problem is one of focus: I want to write something original, but then I have a lot of fanfic ideas, and I want to clear out my WIPs, and so on. It doesn't help that personal time has become something of a rarity in the past few months (seriously, every time I think I've got a clear weekend, something comes up! Grrr.). Really, this whole year has been hectic; it's almost as if it wants to make up for last year's lack of activity.
I'll probably remain pretty quiet on the writing front for the next few weeks, as I clear out some appointments and stuff.
- On the bright side, I received this gorgeous (NSFW) fanart inspired by my fic, "Easy Silence", courtesy of
Postal_Ninja. Such a lovely illustration of one of the fic's key scenes. (Also, Auron's arm veins. His arm veins! *swoon*)
- And the Electric Wendigo from "Roll to Me" continues to do brisk business in
sapientesgladio's fic, "Sprightly", in which Squall braves his social anxiety to throw Selphie a birthday party at the roller disco. It's a sweet, fun little story, with some really cute character details and interactions.
I am really just very honored that my little fics have inspired others' work. It is both humbling and encouraging, and I can't thank these creators enough. 🥰
No actual writing to report this time. Hopefully, there'll be some by next week!

Cries in focusing on WIPs
Date: 2021-10-18 06:18 pm (UTC)You have no idea how much I felt this. I just want you to be able to create as many works as you possibly can but obviously having the mental brainpower to do so, ya know? The change in seasons tend to do that and it's super saddening. I hope something sparks back up that interest in finishing a WIP of your own and getting you back into gear to work on something fun. You got this! I totally believe in you!
And wow, what nice NSFW art! I really do like the attention to detail they put into it.
Thanks once again for enjoying Sprightly! I told you I was gonna consider using the Electric Wendigo because it's a neat creation that definitely deserves more attention! ♥

Date: 2021-10-24 02:08 am (UTC)I'm happy to hear you enjoyed that art. I was over the moon when I saw it. I find Lulu/Auron such an intriguing (and ridiculously attractive!) ship. :D
And "Sprightly" was such a fun read! Thanks again for sharing it! 💕
