The June Something - Day 1

I'm unofficially participating in The June Something as a way to get around to posting more frequently here. Let's see if I can answer all twenty questions this month!

Also, how is it already June?!

Day 1: What's changed about your fandom life in the last 365 days?

It's gotten more varied. At the beginning of 2020, I was just branching out to writing fics in fandoms other than FF8. Now, I've got a few fandoms under my belt, and I post and reblog content from them on Tumblr, as well. While it sometimes feels like my little corner of fandom has gotten even smaller in the past year, the fans who remain have great ideas and headcanons, and produce some truly wonderful fics and art, so it's definitely become a case of quality over quantity. :D

Quality over quantity indeed! It can feel lonely at times, especially if you've been around since the beginning (it breaks my heart to see the Transistor fandom go from massive in its first year, to very quickly dropping off), but I'd rather have that than whatever those giant fandoms deal with.

Also, I love this June Something thing! I might jump on this :3c

Yeah, it does get lonely, especially when you see fans "orbiting" close to one of your favorite fandoms, but never quite coming in. For example, with all the love Hades is getting right now, it's so tempting to hold up Transistor, Bastion, and Pyre and say, "Look, Supergiant made these games, too! Give them the love they deserve!"

And then I see all the squabbling going on in big fandoms and really appreciate my quiet little fandom corners. :)

Damn, I really feel that with Supergiant Games' stuff D: like I'm so happy they've been successful with Hades because oh wow I can only imagine how incredible their next game is... but I just want to flail neon signs at the Hades fandom to be like THERE ARE OTHER GAMES BY THEM THAT ARE JUST AS AMAZING. I swear a couple times a month a see a post pop up in either the Bastion, Transistor, or Pyre tag that's like "so I played this game for the first time and WOW YOU GUYS IT'S SO GOOD AND BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO MADE HADES AND-"

siiiiiiiigh it's so exhausting. Like I'm happy people are getting into their previous titles, but I need a nap lol

You're making me wanna participate in this June Something as well. It'll give me something other than fics to write. LOL

Definitely excited that you're posting outside of your usual fandoms too. It's so nice to be able to branch out and stretch your feelers over your ideas/headcanons and write for yourself elsewhere. c:

Oh yes, I agree that branching out to writing for other fandoms is great. As much as I love FF8, it's been wonderful to put a little space between myself and its canon, so I can revisit it with fresh eyes and a fresh mind, and write stories I'd never even considered before. :)
