Weekly Writing Update

- Not much to report. Just wrote a little over 1k toward my S4S assignment. It's strange. It seems like all the boldness and bravado I had during nominations and signups just evaporated the moment I got my assignment. Now, I'm snorting like a teenage boy at typing certain words, and overthinking scenarios to ensure they're even physically possible. And thinking way too much about architecture to provide my characters little nooks and crannies in which to have liaisons.

Also, smut writers: how do you "keep your cool," so to speak, while writing this kind of stuff? Or maybe I just have an overactive imagination? XD

- I've also received my assignment for the Rarepair Fic Exchange, and I've found a prompt I really like. I'm looking forward to getting started on that one, as well.

- And I'm also planning a little project for an upcoming fic anniversary. 🎂  'Cause that's the kind of person I am. XD

Oh geez, even after writing smut for years, I wonder that myself, too XD For me, the more I write smut, the more I'm able to keep it simmering on the back burner, if that makes sense? I know my first couple of smutty bits felt more like a rolling boil on the front burner. I like to think with time and experience, it just gets easier?

Also, something else that helped was seeing comments on some of my really filthy stuff. I was definitely embarrassed and cringing over descriptions, but then people came in and ate it up, so it was nice peace of mind to know others enjoyed it.

Thanks for addressing that question! It makes sense that it gets easier to manage with experience.

I also like the idea of reading comments to know that people like what you've written, regardless of whether you feel awkward about posting it. While I don't have that option yet, I think it's similar to remind myself that if there's a prompt for it, someone wants to read it!
