Weekly Writing Update

I actually have writing to report! Stunning, I know. It's not much, but it's more than I had throughout all of June.
I've been trying very hard to continue "Where I Belong", since it's been over seven months since I posted the first chapter. The main problem I'm having right now is that the narrative is in an awkward place. Chapter 2 is more of a set-up for and transition to the main plot, meaning that it not only has a fair bit of details to cover and convey, but is also just plain boring. And if I'm bored, I can't imagine how a reader would feel! This needs work.
I encountered a similar problem in the second chapter of "Curious as a Cat", but at least that one had some fun elements, and ended with a silly slumber-party-esque scene. "Belong" has no such luxury; it's just Selphie talking to and swapping info with a few OCs, one of whom I hadn't even planned on including in this story until I realized a throwaway line in "Curious" about where his sister lived would make his exclusion from this particular conversation implausible.
Yeah, it's about as convoluted as it sounds. Tracking tiny details is one of the hardest parts about writing a series, I've found.
(Incidentally, I've managed to write much of the opening scene for Chapter 3 already. I just need to find a way to make the Ch. 2 slog readable and interesting enough to hold readers, and then I can get to the fun stuff!)
I also wrote a couple drabbles! Both fanfic, both very fun to write. One plays with one of my headcanons for Selphie, regarding her Limit Breaks and her mysterious first GF. The other focuses on Farrah Yon-Dale from Transistor, waking up in the Country and taking in the colors around her. Drabbles are always good exercises in word economy.
Finally, even though it wasn't technically writing, I updated "Special Order" on AO3 with the title cards and end-of-chapter images from its "run" on Tumblr. They were so much fun to work on!
Anyway, on to the stats! (Gosh, it feels so good to type that again!):
Total Words Written: 1,360
All fanfic (for "Where I Belong", "The Beginning of The End", and "Waking Up in the Country")
Hopefully, I can stay productive. Chapter 2 isn't going to write itself, after all, no matter how much I want it to!
