Weekly Writing Update
May. 12th, 2021 11:12 am- My Yahtzee fill attempts have been false start after false start, but I think I've finally settled on a character that'll give me five short stories.
- This picture wrecked me, and I can't help but continue to think about it. There's such a story there, and tragic as it is, I'd love to take a stab at writing it. Thinking about the original Princess Garnet makes me doubt that Brahne was ever really good. Who replaces their dead daughter, going so far as to mutilate another child to do so? What was the motivation? Was there some kind of secrecy around Garnet and her poor health? I highly doubt Sarah-Garnet looked exactly like the original Garnet, but perhaps the original was always kept at a distance? Where was original Garnet laid to rest? Is her grave even marked? Was she buried at sea? Again, why? What was the king doing walking in the harbor that day? And how how HOW did Sarah and her mother wash up on the Alexandrian coast, if they left from Madain Sari? There's like, a whole continent in the way!
Anyway, I wrote up a little synopsis that can hopefully give the original Garnet some of the closure and respect she deserves, and I hope to flesh it out over the next few weeks or months.
Geez, that picture really drives home the original Garnet's story, and makes me mad that she was mentioned only in passing in the game. :(
Anyway. Stats.
