I'm so glad I decided to participate in Yuletide this year! Not only did it spur me to write, but I also received three wonderful gifts, including two for a very small fandom on AO3 (8 works total, counting the ones written for Yuletide).

Tears Wept by the Wind (Illusion of Gaia | Kara/Will, Incan Queen/Incan King | 1,157 words | Rated T) - A fic that imagines the Incan queen and king as previous incarnations of Kara and Will, forced to meet and part again and again.

I loved the inclusion of the light and dark crystal rings, and the nod to the game's theme of cycles and rebirth. I especially liked the character of the queen, a tragic figure determined to defy destiny.

Away from Mu (Illusion of Gaia | Kara/Will, Ishtar | 4,467 words | Rated T) - The journey through the tunnel from Mu to Angel Village, from Kara's POV, as well as her interactions with the Angels and, eventually, with Ishtar the painter.

I really appreciated Kara's development beyond the "spoiled princess" trope, as well as her budding magical abilities granted by the light crystal ring (especially in that they explain how she and Will survived on that raft with no potable water!). I loved the empathy that she has learned during her journey, and how that leads her to Ishtar on behalf of another. Ishtar himself is written very well, neither creepy nor malicious, just an old man struggling as much as the other Angels to remember what it felt like to be human.

Learn to Fly (Pyre | Ti'zo & Vagabond Girl | 7,755 words | Rated T) - Ti'zo and the Vagabond Girl reunite in the Commonwealth, and work to bring Volfred's Plan to fruition.

That is a fairly vague description, I'll admit, but I do not want to spoil anything that happens in this fic. The interaction between Ti'zo and Rhae is excellent, and Rhae's character is spot-on, down to her dialogue. The depiction of the revolution is superb, and downright inspiring. I was moved to tears several times throughout this story, especially near the end. Well worth a read.

I definitely have to poke around the collection to see what others have come up with, but I adored the gifts I received. All of them were written so well, and touched on bits of each fandom that I either had forgotten, or hadn't ever considered.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, creators, for writing such lovely stories! ❤❤❤
