Ever-expanding treat keeps expanding. 12.6k words and approaching the halfway point (please ignore my earlier status estimate). Apologies in advance to the recipient.

Fingers crossed I can finish soon enough to qualify as a belated treat at all. If it wasn't so full of OCs and tailored to a specific prompt, I would probably just post this fic outside of the challenge much later.
