Weekly Writing Update

A day late and three stories short. :/ I kind of disappeared into a haze of work, errands, and appointments (and a new video game) these past few days, but it's clearing up. Four-day weekend ahead, as well, so hopefully I'll have some more stuff to report next week.

- Despite not keeping up with 7 Days, 7 Stories, I got some stuff done. I finished a draft of one of the Baker's Dozen vignettes and started another one. I'd like to have a few done as a sort of cushion, so I can go back to posting on a regular schedule. Funny how this whole little project seemed so easy when I thought it up. XD

- I also wrote a triple drabble treat for Multifandom Drabble. (Though I'd edited it before posting, now I can't find it on AO3 to check for any additional edits. I hope it went through.)

- I need to sign up for Rairpairs Exchange. Exchanges seem to be what's fueling my creativity this year.

Absolutely understand that work haze :\ it's so bleh. I hope the long weekend treats you well, though!

And I'm so happy that the exchanges are doing well for you! I'm tempted to join the rarepair one, but I might hold off and treat instead. Regardless, I hope you keep having a blast with it!

Well, it's more of a new-to-me game: it's the SaGa Frontier remaster. I'll admit to buying the game just for Emelia, but I wanted to get a handle on how it worked before playing her route, so I started with Asellus, instead, and I do not regret that decision. She's such a plucky character despite her circumstances, and her lines about how nobody "belongs" to anyone else had me cheering. But this game definitely has a steep learning curve, and reminded me very much of NES games, in that it drops you right into the story with no explanation of how to survive. I consulted several walkthroughs and got up to the final dungeon on my first file, but was still confused. Then I found a no-frills walkthrough and a better explanation of abilities and equipment, started over, and had a much better time. At this point, curiosity and stubbornness have been equally pulling me along, but I'm enjoying the ride! :)

Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to my long weekend! It will be nice to decompress.

Thanks! I wish I'd gotten into fic exchanges sooner, but for a while, I was doubtful of my ability to write for any fandom other than FF8. I just took the plunge with last year's Press Start, and I'm so glad I did! :) I'm especially enjoying the rarepair exchanges like the one going on now, and the Rarest of the Rare starting June 1. Whether you sign up or treat, I hope you have a lot of fun with it! These little ships deserve all the love they can get! :D

Oh those ladies look incredible! Also feel those "old NES vibes" problems. They can make navigating a game really difficult :\ like I'm cool with remakes of old games if it means they'll be more accessible, because wow, you really need someone holding your hand to get through some of those.

Also feel you with exchanges and not feeling good enough D: I was a nervous wreck my first exchange, but then you get used to swimming and the water's just fine! So glad that's been working out for you! And you most definitely do a fantastic job both with FFVIII and fandoms outside of it! 💕
