Weekly? Writing Update

I wrote a thing! It's not a great thing, but it is a complete thing, which is more than I accomplished throughout all of July. So, yay! 🎉

Honestly, I just needed a little warm-up fic to get back into my creative groove before I get started on my Press Start fic (for which I have a solid idea, just no...actual writing, yet). The fact that the warm-up fic happens to be a cheesy little rarepair raft is pretty indicative of how desperate I was to write something, anything again.

I was tinkering with another Daryl/Setzer smut fic for a while, but I got hung up on the details of opera boxes, librettos, and lighting, so have Nida and Selphie awkwardly stumbling toward something a little more than friendship, instead. I do like the idea of them together, two characters that I really can't imagine being overtly romantic, but who can learn to respect and take each other seriously when others won't. I do have more adventures planned for them (fair warning!), but those will have to wait for when I have a bit more time.

In non-writing news, my workplace is finally going back to normal hours on Monday! No more gulping down dinner on my way out the door, no more sleeping for an hour until the store or laundromat opens, then trying to get in some more sleep in the afternoon. Nope, my schedule will go back to being streamlined, in which errands are completed on the way home and the rest of the day is mine. Hopefully, this will reflect well in my creativity/productivity.

Anyhow, I'm glad to have writing to report again. Let's see the stats.

Squee and Creativity

Ran across this on my Network page, and it looks interesting.



Billed as "a week of prompts and 'tasks' to elicit Squee and Creativity," it will apparently offer discussion/creative prompts. From the info post:

The prompts are based on the nursery rhyme 'Monday's Child' but often with a 'not so obvious' interpretation. One prompt is focused on creating something new (fandom related or not), the other is focused on squeeing about existing things (fandom related or not). Both can be filled in any medium you like (writing, art, interpretative dance, voice recording, video, photo collage etc). There is no need to sign-up and you can participate as little or as much as you like. Take a look at the prompts, if something sparks and you want to share the results, drop a note with a link in the comments. Job's a good'un, gov.
