Fandom Snowflake Challenge #4 - 2020 Goals

While I have a handful of highly-specific goals for 2020, all of them fall into at least one of the broader goals below:

* Read more - Both fanfic and original fiction. I'm definitely a slacker in this department, and I really need to improve.

* On a related note, interact more with others. Comment on fics and blog posts, ask questions, and the like. I'm still pretty shy, even online, but I realize the only way to change that is to face down the awkwardness and move past it. (This is probably my most difficult goal of the year, despite, technically, being the easiest to accomplish.)

* Finish my current fanfic WIPs - Especially since I have a story I'm really excited to get to, once I finish the previous installment in the series it belongs to.

* Branch out into other fandoms with a few one-shots - While I have no shortage of fanfic ideas regarding various properties, I've always felt too unsure of my level of knowledge about said properties to write those stories. Perhaps it's time to stop second-guessing and just dive in, and learn more about them as I go.

* Participate in more prompts and challenges - Not only should this help with my interaction goal, but it should also help me push my creative boundaries a little. I hope. :)

This should be an interesting post to revisit at the end of the year! ;)

Drabble: "Solar Flamingo"

He sits on the windowsill, half-hidden by the blinds, his plastic plumage fading, but his posture still as proud. Not quite forgotten, but not oft-remembered, he nevertheless continues his work, diligently, tirelessly, from the first rays of the sun to the last. His tiny wings flap in a steady rhythm, laying the cadence for the march of time.

Click, click, click, the day is fading.

Click, click, click, the future is now.

Click, click, click, savor the moment, for it passes in the flap of a wing.

Click, click, click, remember I'm here, watching the sun, driven by its glow.

Weekly Writing Update

The first update of 2020! I've been off to a very slow start this year, thanks to a few days of my brain just refusing to settle on any one task for more than fifteen minutes, as well as the usual post-holiday activities/chores. I did get some writing done, though, all of it original fiction. One short story ("Stars") for a prompt, one drabble (!) ("Solar Flamingo"), and a few descriptions for my Daily Description project over on Tumblr, in which I am already quite far behind.

Well, let's count those words, shall we?
