Blue Castle fanart

Yikes, it's been awhile since I posted here! I've been keeping busy, though unfortunately, not with writing. I have, however, been flexing my wimpy little art muscle, trying to build it up. As part of my single-minded obsession effort to make my own little zine, I've taken to illustrating some of my Blue Castle fics. They're no masterpieces, but I'm proud of what I came up with. Besides, the rough-around-the-edges nature of these fits the DIY spirit of zines! :)

She still needs a background, but I'm thinking of using this picture either as a filler or for "Queen of the Wild Places."

I'm all right with how this turned out, but there was something special about the original sketch that I simply could not capture during clean-up.

Three illustrations done, two to go! These were the more complicated ideas I had, so I'm glad to have gotten them out of the way first! :)

I sympathize with the loss of that "something" when you clean up a sketch, I despise inking for that exact reason. It feels like you have to color it in after JUST to try and get that energy back. oTL

Glad you like it! :D "Keep Reading" is definitely one of my more mischievous fics, but I really just wanted to capture the coziness of the scene.

I think, with the Valancy portrait, I just missed the freedom that came with the pencil sketch. Coloring it in and giving it a proper background really helped bring back some life to the picture. :)
